ABSTRACT

Out of all the islamic groups originated in the last decades, most probably non of them has as big impact on the politics in Middle East as Hizbullah, the party of God. The following study discusses the origins and structure of this shia group that has transformed from the group of zealot fighters into a mass political party and a member of Lebanesse parliament. In order to go through these changes, Hizbullah had to give up their radicalism, they had to address all the potential voters, not only shia muslims. The person leading Hizbullah through these crucial years of changes is a charismatic leader Hassan Nasrallah. The change has been demonstrated in the evolution and progress of his public speeches and statements as well. The occupation of Southern Lebanon by Israel was the main reason for the Hizbullah’s resistance. The history and development of this conflict between Hizbullah and Israel is being described. As well the expectations for the future has been pictured and the change of normative ground for the remaining resistance in the Southern Lebanon after the release of Israeli army is being described.
